We had to create 4 images for The Bloody Chambers book by Angela Carter, I chose The Werewolf (because it was the shortest!) I decided to use symbolic images from the story rather than try to narrate scenes. They are all dead, bloody and horrible. The colours have come up funny after scanning in but hope you enjoy.

I have finally finished my book. What seemed like the longest 12 weeks (plus a bit more) of my life is now over. i need to celebrate! The book itself is a little wonky but i'm just glad its done! I think i'm pleased with it but i've spent my life looking at it so i can't work out if it's good or not. Guess i'll find out when it's marked..

For a visual project in the module writing for images i made a tiny book all about my fears. It was pretty rushed due to deadlines and i only got the idea for it a week ago. good times! sorry the photos arn't great quality.

life drawing

Today we did the best life drawing lesson. First of all the model was wearing a mask and holding a gun. we had to use graph paper, stickers, crayons and felt tips to draw with and use. After this a film called Snow and Ashes was projected over the models body. It looked incredible and beautiful.

I havn't done any life drawing in a while so they arn't great, but they are defiantly different to what im used to during a life drawing class. Really enjoyed it.

Book Project

Our new 12 week long project is to make a book on anything we desire. So i have chosen this story i found called A Girl who married a Bear. It's a bit weird and i've pretty much re-writen the story in my own little words!

Decided to do something i haven't much experience with.. so far so good.. i think! but i will leave you with an image of a tiny mouse lady from the story and i'll put up some other images when ive actually done some!

So my new brief is to design four stamps which show four things about me.. i hate this project! anyways.. ive started.. these are just experimental bits and look nothing like stamps and only show the things i like in life.. i have some more work to do. I have a crit today so will see what people think but your opinions would be welcome :) ta

Myself and 5 others are putting together a zine as part of a group project from ideas through design. We could choose our own theme - we decided on 'wishes'. The zine is called hanker.

I'll post some pictures up when it's all put together. This is one of my images being used in it.

Some Porto Drawings

In my 2nd week of my 2nd year of studying illustration at Cambridge School of Art we had a weeks trip to Porto in Portugal. It was beautiful in a manky, crumbly, lost sort of way. It smelt like wee almost everywhere and i have never seen so many cranes or crutches in one place before. It was an amazing place to draw.. however i won't be hurrying back to have a relaxing holiday..! It was such an intense week but really enjoyable. Every evening we would have an hour long crit & it was amazing to see peoples work progress in such a short amount of time.
Most of my drawings are bigger than my scanner so i'll take some photos when i can be bothered!

In Bruges

So last weekend Morf and myself made a little trip to Bruges for a long weekend. It was such a beautiful place. It was like going back in time, hardly any cars, just horse and carriage and cobbles everywhere! Everyone was so lovely and we had a great time. Here are some pics for you :)

My last brief for my first year of uni was Englishness. We were told to look at different 'urban tribes' and stuffff..

Here are some of my final images. Lots of things inspired me like The Jeremy Kyle Show and Swansea Love Story (which if you havnt see then you musssst because its pretty interesting). I used doilies because i liked the idea of traditionally old fashioned english doilies with a very modern image of england.

I like the idea of something ugly being beautiful.

I MADE A BOOK

So here it is... my very first book full of my very first prints! As you can imagine, for my first time on this, it's not that amazing! but i enjoyed it (well... some of it) so i have posted it up on here! We were given a poem called 'The Tobacconist' to give us a starting point. It didn't have to narrate the poem, just simply give us inspiration. So i picked a few words and lines from the poem and used lino to create these repetitive images..

First of all i just want to say how much i enjoyed Animal House and working with everyone including the 717 collective and Joel Millerchip. It was a great show and can't wait to do something similar again soon. 717 are bring out some more zines soon including 'Bands' and 'Leaders', so please check the blog (link to the right hopefully!) soon!

End of Year Show

I want to start off by saying what an amazing year i have had. Sounds stupid aswel but i want to thank everyone who was there with me, friends and tutors, everyone was so amazing and there's no way i could of had a better year!

So, here it is.. the end of year show.. followed by the dove and karaoke night at ice!

It was a really successful evening and somehow i ended up winning a prize! and another, along with the rest of 717 collective. I was very shocked and very pleased :)

Here are some photos from the night. I will be back with some drawings and things i will be doing on the DRAW TOUR 09 and other stuff.

Seemed like a long 9 weeks. It was a challenge but really enjoyable. my title is "Revealing Layers of New York' , and its difficult to show you all the outcome through pictures as its an interactive piece of work that you need to look through... but here we go!!

Revealing Layers of Truths

Hello.. as you may already know i took a wee trip to the city of New York. It was one of the most exciting things i have done, i loved every second of it. The buildings are amazing, the Chrysler building mostly, lame to say but it took my breath away. Anyways, instead of just displaying my photos like everyone has i wanted to do something a bit different with them, which has leaded me onto my final major project. Basically i have used acetate, my photography, paint, sparkly card and netting and sewing. I love the idea of layers and revealing them.. there's not much evidence of this here just yet but it's coming! peas x

P.S - i forgot to mention i got into cambridge anglia ruskin - well pleased!
